Also known as universal funding, all children over the age of 3 are entitled to 15 hours funded childcare regardless of your employment status and how much you earn. This means that your child is entitled to receive this level of funded childcare each week over a 38-week funding term (providing a total of 570 funded hours per year), which at Blue Pear can be taken as term-time only or stretched to cover the 51 weeks that we operate.

Available to children aged 3 – 4, this is an additional 15 free hours childcare provided by the local authority in addition to the universal funding, meaning that your child is eligible to 30 funded hours per week (a total of 1140 hours per year, which is stretched to cover the 51 weeks). Eligibility for funded childcare starts the term after your child’s second or third birthday. Their birthday must fall on or before the cut-off date in order to receive the funding the following term.

Yes, from September 2025 the UK government is expanding free childcare for working parents to 30 hours per week for children aged nine months and older. This expansion will be available for eligible working parents from the term following their child’s ninth month. To be eligible, parents must meet specific working and income requirements, please click here. to apply.

Fees may be paid using Tax Free Childcare, whereby the government will contribute £2 for every £8 of child care costs. This enables you to claim up to £2000 per annum, effectively giving you basic-rate tax back on what you pay. Yes, we accept childcare vouchers from various voucher providers. We are also able to register with childcare workplace schemes if we are not already registered.

Funding is calculated on a 38-week year. Little Nest operates over 51 weeks of the year, and so your funding will be stretched to cover the 51 weeks. This works out at 11 hours a week for 15-hour funding, and 22 hours a week for 30-hour funding. However, we do offer term-time only places for families accessing ‘together for 2’s funding’ from the Bromley local authority.
